Yangshuo, minus the photos

We've had pretty spotty internet connection since arriving in Yangshuo, so this is the first opportunity to get on and update my blog. Unfortunately I hadn't counted on being able to do this here, so I also don't have any photos prepared!!!
We arrived in Yangshuo on Thursday afternoon and a minivan took us to the Li River Resort. The Scenery is beautiful, the rooms are warm enough, and finally this morning we got the kinks in the shower worked out that the shower is also okay. No hair dryer, but "resort" in China is a relative term! Mostly we were happy for rooms with locking doors so we could feel secure about having our adoption paperwork in the room with us and have it be safe...

This resort is about a mile from the little town of Yangshuo with all of it's tourist stalls and shops, and tons of wonderful little restaurants. I will save the description of the town and the surrounding area until I can do it justice with photos and time to explain it fully, but just know that the scenery is breathtaking, and despite the cold weather and intermittent rain, we are having a fantastically wonderful time.

The most important thing to mention for today though is that the new daughter of the family we are traveling with, RUBY, turns 4 today! Please everyone send many happy birthday wishes to sweet Ruby today, and know we will all celebrate, along with Lola (Who turned 1 on February 20th) in just a few days when we finally meet our girls. We had a toast to Ruby this morning, but we plan to celebrate in earnest on Monday or Tuesday!!!
