On sunday morning we had our first spring breakfast on the front porch- the weather was beautiful and while the girls were coming over at 10 for bagels, Maddie woke up at 6:30 so we needed a pre-curser of coffee and granola bars. Because it's the first time it's been warm enough to sit on the front porch again, I have not yet cleaned any part of it or the furniture- which gets pretty grimy in the winter from the cars going by. Maddie had a fantastic time playing on the floor with her blocks, the old dead leaves, and our granola bar wrappers...

She got pretty dirty pretty quick! But she was having such a good time and I was so happy she was not freaked out about the textures, that I didn't mind having to change her clothes afterwards...!

We also did a bath this weekend. Maddie has not had a lot of baths since we got home since I don't think she had ever had a "bath" in water before me, but rather only had sponge baths in the orphanage. We did a couple of baths in China- one where she was just in shock, the second where she screamed. We did one full on sponge bath once we got home and ended by putting her feet in the water. Then we tried another bath with just very little water in the tub- VERY anxious girl, not at all happy. So this weekend we tried again, and with great effort from both of us (me trying to quickly clean her up with a washcloth, Jeremy doing everything to make her laugh!), she was laughing and having fun!!! She was splashing, playing with bath toys, all went well! It was such a joy to see her happy! Here is my little Buddha baby after the bath.

Congrats on the happy bath! And congrats, too, on letting her get dirty. It gets easier every time. Maddie is darling - thanks for the pictures. xo
Oh, Kelli, it's a joy to see you so happy! Lots of good bath times ahead!
I concur. A darling.
How fun... breakfast on the porch. Maddie is so cute, glad she is liking her baths.
Congrats on having a happy bath time. Now she will learn just how much fun it is to splash Mommy.
